and so another month comes to pass.

reverse order this time!

work is work. systems guys are in the process of redoing the whole infrastructure. and by systems guys i mean the 1 and a consultant. interesting stuff that i won't go into too much here.
still don't enjoy my boss but dealing with that.
took and passed the XP MCP (70-270). now i just have to figure out how to get them to pay me back for that. and then start on the next 6 tests... :/ hopefully they'll show that i am in fact interested in advancing my career. or at the very least pad the resume with certs and all the experience i have.
and i'll probably have very limited time off till ... christmas at this point. october is going to involve a lot of working. then going to ohio for thanksgiving. then ohio for christmas. do not know where or when i'll be yet.

Noticed a bubble in one of my tires sidewalls. decided that i didn't really want to chance having to change my tire on the side of 93 in boston. went and got 2 new ones. yay sport all season tires. so that was exciting. need to get my brakes looked at at some point. probably just need new brake pads.

games!
starting to get tired of prince of persia. its not terrible but it is just the same thing over and over. with some missed jumps because the prince decides to jump the wrong way.

fallout3 is starting to grow on me more and more. i think once i got past not having shit for weapons it started to feel better. using the targeting thing for every shot gets a little tiresome especially when i only have the AP for one shot then have to back up till i get enough for the next. but exploding ghoul heads with the sawed off shotgun is amusing. and stealing everything that isn't nailed down is helping too. karma be damned! will probably be playing it more today.

upcoming games! at least 2 games that are coming out in october look fantastic.

demon's souls. i know i've mentioned this to various people. or at least one. Action RPG with a brutal difficulty. it looks like quite a good time. hopefully i'll get more use out of this preorder then i did blaze blu. i recommend youtubing some gameplay videos or look up the hands ons if you are curious. I'll throw a bit of a better description in. it is more of a dungeon crawler game. it just has a very steep difficulty curve. the game won't try to hold your hand, and in their words will try to kill you as often as it can. comes out october 6th.

Borderlands. as far as i can tell this one is pc/consoles. if i pick it up it'll be on pc, because playing FPS games on the console is a chore. the console versions will have split screen modes though. this is a FPS with a dash of RPG. the art style looks amazing it is like half cell shaded. this isn't a fallout3 fps/rpg. this is like quake3 with 100000+ guns and leveling. and online co-op. first person Diablo with guns kind of game. i dont know why i wasn't paying attention to it earlier but after reading some of the hands ons and seeing the trailers and gameplay videos it looks like it should be a good time. comes out towards the end of october.

plans for the rest of the day, eat and fallout3 if i can manage to not go back to sleep. maybe do something productive. but really. i haven't had a sunday off in forever. shame my reason for taking days off went away, but oh well thats why they make video games!

if i waste enough time i can get chipotle for lunch and maybe cook some chicken and rice for dinner. failing that, there is always subway. though it is raining / shitty out so i dont really want to grill. i bet i can come up with something. also need to do some grocery shopping / BJ's trip. probably not ambitious enough to do that today though.

Games first!
this current round of gamefly is Prince of Persia and Fallout3.

i greatly enjoy how accurate zero punctuation reviews tend to be.

Prince of Persia isn't terrible. the prince is actually pretty likable, compared to the linkin park emo he was a few games ago i guess. the controls are a little chunky though. i've had to re-do long strings of shit because he decided to climb up instead of wall run. and combat is kinda.. chunky too. i have no motivation for learning the combos either. game isn't terrible i might be able to slog my way through the whole game. partly due to the almost mindless easiness of the rest of it.

Fallout3 i'm not real far into it yet. it doesn't quite fit into my normal pick up a game and play it for a little then stop trend. which is how i normally accomplish games. After i got slayed by a group of raiders for the 2nd or 3rd time i decided not to go that way again and saved/quit. I have a feeling it will fall the same fate oblivion and morrowind had. neat for awhile and then i lose interest and stop playing.

Wet. i rocked out the demo today. plays like a quentin tarantino movie. it seems like it'll be fun for awhile. hopefully will have the staying power so you actually finish the game. tons of quick time events though. those ruin games for me nowadays. PRESS X TO NOT DIE! the game is in my queue maybe i'll bump it up a bit higher when i start sending things back again.

Next!

going to ohio this weekend. going to be crazy with the flying and the layovers. and i apparently get to try to teach my parents dog to play Frisbee. i may or may not drag a laptop down with me, so my online presence will be limited possibly. i know that makes all of you sad deep down on the inside. there may be a zoo or aquarium visit in there too.

segue that into a laptop topic.
macbook pro has been lifted from work again. i'll mess around with it for awhile again, hopefully i wont break it in a week again. so far rocking non snow cat os x with bootcamped windows 7 64bit. GG MSDN. parallels up in there too. dont know what else i can do to pimp it out. shapeshifter doesn't work with 10.5 so i can't spend my days skinning it to have maximum rice. the sort of goal is to not really use the windows on it. i did it mainly so i can have something to fall back to if needed. and for giggles. i want to get a feel for how using a mac as a mac works. i'm still dragging my HP around for the time being partly because it has Vmwared XP which makes shit at work easier to deal with. and because it also has all my applications installed on it. which i will need to get up on the mac at least in parallels at some point.

part of me still is thinking about the netbook idea. i think what keeps me from buying one is that i can't make up my mind. and that it would mostly be a toy. hackintosh up on it, or linux, or win7. but beyond that, i can't really justify it seeing as i technically am in possession of 3 laptops now.

i only have to be in the same building as my boss for 2 days this week, which i am probably all too excited about. will have to work on random tedious shit though probably.

annnd too distracted to keep writing so it'll end here

Something to think about.
Is it poor customer service to not want to work for free?
if i am not on the clock and not being paid why should i help someone at work?
sounds pretty reasonable, akin to getting to work and sitting outside for 30min before punching in.

If you are wanted to only work 40 hours a week without pre-approved OT, why should you work an extra 2-3 hours a week for free just because traffic was in your favor?
Then essentially insult your employees by getting mad when they question this logic.
oh you don't get paid for the few extra hours you work a week because you are on salary making more then double what i make. yes that will make me feel soo sorry for you. you come in extra early to avoid traffic. i sure wish i could do that.

i get the feeling the new boss essential stopped listening when we tried to explain how our schedules change week to week because we support 2 client bases not just 1. as if we are trying to scam 10-30 extra hours a week or something.
Just because one person was having issues coming in on time doesn't mean you should freak out that a question was asked in a meeting.

the hours thing is going to be annoying for awhile. but at least i wont have rage when i get to work in the morning. i was in the mood to choke a bitch for awhile there today.

i'm just going to stick with this shit. at least until i find out that i've been lied to about getting out of my current job and into something that wont make me want to punch babies and kick kittens as much. The epic /g/ thread today really did show that IT is a pretty shitty line of work till you can get out of the bottom tiers. you'll still have to deal with dumb people but at least you wont have to answer a phone. or plug in a network cable for them. you'll just have to figure out how to move mountains.

and ninja gaiden isn't that good of a game. i need to remember to un queue devil may cry as well.

possibly going to the beach on friday, woo. i guess.

i dont feel like writing any more at this point. so unfinished post!

words words words.
waiting for my missed tv shows to download.

went to a beach yesterday. white sand and sun! oh and rocks. lots of rocks. i made like a one foot high pile just from the ones under my feet where the chair was for awhile. oh and the water was chilly too. seems like i managed to avoid the sun burn death. only got maybe 3 spots that cause pain. i don't think i picked up any color from it. so white and burnt hells yeah.

and just got distracted reading a pile of work email and replying to things. sigh.

speaking of work, new boss isn't terrible so far. if just a little annoying with the absurd micro managing. she is asking about another round of training maybe i'll actually get the real vmware class. and i'm going to attempt to put effort into taking all my MCSE tests. more sigh.

i think i was going to write more but replying to those emails removed my motivation. so corn muffin and tv time!

eh what the hell i can write words here too!

so today, i had given our intern at work a basic task to do. setup the os and install the applications for a new pc. it is still unclear just what happened, but the short version is somehow running an automated script we have to install software the permissions on the box got hosed. hosed to the point where my domain admin account didn't have permission to close windows. dont know what caused it decided to just reimage the pc and start over. this is after he spent a good 10 minutes or so hooking up a kvm... which he didn't get working... anyway.

hell of long week last week. boss said i clocked out at 71 hours. been awhile since i've gotten a nice OT check. i do have a work related headache right now. what other fun work things have there been.

today spent over an hour trying to figure out why some client computers wouldn't connect to our wireless network. something was going wrong on them and they were connecting to an ad-hoc network with the same name as our ssid. the companies it guy called and said it was like we were out of ips... true non responsive dhcp server could sorta look like we have no ips... i guess. flaw in that reasoning is no one else was having these issues. and we had 220 wireless clients around that time according to the wireless controllers. if you were wondering our wireless has a class B subnet to itself. anyway, we still have no idea what was causing it. i blame the shitty linksys usb wireless adapters. they ordered some lines so it should be working fine in the morning. we also do not recommend people use the wireless, it is free and intended for casual usage. so we don't really support it.

i have another fun network issue to sort out as well. short version. several layers of switches deep for the network config. if i pull an uplink 3 of the 4 hosts remain reachable. that means the network failover is working for 3/4 hosts. all the hosts and the layer of switching i am responsible for have identical configs. the neat thing is if i shut a switch off, all 4 hosts remain responsive. neat huh?

we just got a new cisco toy to try out. it enables our wireless controllers/aps to track rfid tags in the building. i am also pretty sure our new badges have rfid, well they are proxmity cards which i think use rfid. supposedly they want to sell it as a service to clients so they can track shipments/pallets/teamsters... and most likely employees.

uhh ct this week. woo. leaving work early so maybe i wont have hella traffic.
blazblu is getting delivered, probably not by the time i leave :(

i have been playing guildwars off an on. since there isn't a monthly fee i dont feel so bad about not playing it. and it isn't terrible. alot of it still feels a little clunky to me compared to wow and war. but i'm also used to have every skill possible on a action bar. GW limits you to 8 at a time. no jumping, no walking down non walking areas. minor details.
steam is good at getting me to buy stuff. no stores no lines no sales people. sigh.

i am very warm, it is annoying. i think this will end here

WORDS!

where to start.

GAMES!
current game fly games are burnout paradise and saints row 2.
both of these amuse me more then they should.
Zero Punctuations review of saints row is pretty spot on. it plays like a bad movie. i actually want to play the missions in it. where as in gta i pretty much just drove around and killed people from time to time.
and burnout well, i haven't spent a ton of time on it yet, but car crashes = very yes.

warrior epic came and went. i was in the closed beta... for the whole like 2 weeks it was going on. i have it installed on my work laptop still. it was interesting but i don't like its free to play part. i don't want to spend real monies on health potions but it is still a good hack and slash game.

I had assassins creed for like a week. i really wanted to like it. the killing parts were awesome. i could even deal with most of the bullshit you had to do. but the 10 minutes of horse riding between cities... and the bullshit before you can actually assassinate someone killed it for me. i think i did 2 and was like fuck this when i got the the area for the 3rd. shame really.

Untold legends, whatever it had after the title: i wanted to like this also. and i did for awhile. 2 buttons and maybe a dodge here and there. i think there was a block button... maybe. i started to feel like the game was punishing me for only taking attack power... shitty camera. oh god the camera at times. i think when i quit i looked it up on gamefaqs and found out i was maybe half way and decided it wasn't worth my time to finish.

dokapon journey. oh jesus i also wanted to like this, really i did. and i might. i guess the ps2 and wii versions are a bit better/have more features. but i'm like 20 "weeks" into a story mode and one of the CPU characters is kicking so much ass it isn't even funny. it ALWAYS rolls the exact amount to get to where ever it wants to go. really annoying. i imagine playing this with others would cause things to be thrown.

WORK!

busy season, from a few weeks ago till septemberish. sigh. have your conventions but dont break shit kthx.
Built a test environment a week ago. been tinkering with it as we go. it had the benefit of making the networking side of it run on less magic and more real things.

new camera lens amuses me. having actual control over things (or at least more then previous), and the lens is sharper then my telephotos. or should be in theroy.

not quite a wall of text, and i decided not to try to break eclipses website with this. maybe next time.

well hmmph i haven't played RoM since the last post.
decided to give the 10 day trial of D&D online a shot. probably wont be going back to that.
the good:
D&D classes.
it shows you a D20 as you attack things (lawls)
has kinda sorta D&D multiclassing

the meh:
combat is weirdish.
travel is a pain
instances inside of instances. wtf!

i dont know if i'm just not giving it much time be the last time i played tried a group and we had sudden terrible lag. i also soloed the dungeon on the same difficulty we were trying to do it on. i wanted to like it. but meh.

seems warhammer is getting some changes. that is just a lack of motivation there.

signed up for the closed beta for warrior epic. free to play hack and slash al'la diablo MMO. will have to see if i get into that.

basically waiting for D3 and Trine.

assassins creed is on its way for ps3. hoping to finish up untold legends soon or just get rid of it. i am starting to feel like the game is just mad at me for taking nothing but attack power as stats...
i have games in my queue that i dont even remember putting in there.

fuck yeah swine-flu. my workplace is being cautious about it. they put a ton of hand sanitizer things up around the building.
Probably going to break down and bust out my MCP soonish. by just scheduling it and forcing myself to prepare for it finally.

Runes of Magic: short version (TLDR version).
download and lose track of large chunks of your life.

Runes of Magic: longer, first impressions version.
3.5GB download and credit card less registration. i recommend a mirror instead of their torrent client. took about 10GB before i had it installed and deleted some of the install files.
Login with some terrible resolution but that's fine. very wow-ish login screen... and well everything.
Character creator lots and lots of choices. hair color has a color picker wheel. there is a breast and chest slider for the females. can change arm and leg sizes. pretty dang customizable for a free game.
Gameplay. it feels clunky at first, i am still clicking my skills because i don't see a reason for using the number keys yet. i feel a lot of things aren't really intuitive. Click to move is on by default going to see if i can turn that shit off its getting annoying.
the quests are pretty generic, and the world is colorful.
the crafting system is supposedly deep, i haven't don't much beside gathering things.
the dualclassing system is where it gets interesting. i chose scout first and was trying to decide between mage and priest for the second. rogue would have also been a good choice. would give me a dex bonus and dualweilding.
priests seem to be currently a little broken, it was mentioned in chat that they are out dpsing scouts right now, and they don't die. i watched one sit there with like 8 big spider things attacking him. it took him a long ass time to kill them all but he eventually won.
i picked scout/mage anyway. mages get ranged snares and roots that are accessible while playing as scout. you only get certain skills from your secondary class when they are set as secondary.
the downside to the second class, is you have to level it up. so you have to go back to the starting area and grind out 10 levels. less if you weren't needing much of their skills. such as wanting to pick up dualweild or bow.
i logged out last.. this morning 10/10 back to my scout as main. not sure how much i'm going to keep them matched.

annnnnd i guess thats enough for now.

banging these out once a month?

color correct monitors are a pain.
lets start with that. i've learned a good chunk about color space and profiles since i decided to buy a new monitor and calibrate it.
any sort of photo work on the internet is rendered in a lowest common denominator dealie. srgb.
so what happens is if you don't convert your image to srgb it'll look like trash when viewed on the web.
ok that is simple enough.
now if you have a correct monitor, at least for me, internet srgb and srgb viewed in anything else are not the same. this was annoying. luckily firerfox supports color profiles. so with the aid of an addon i no longer cringe about colors.

ok next topic.

the temp and fan monitor software that came with my motherboard almost destroyed my computer over the weekend. somehow it changed some bios settings, and made my windows not want to boot except for safe mode. didn't even really generate event log errors. a bios reset and some hardware removals later it works fine, and then i have to calibrate my monitors again because windows is a jerk with monitors it doesn't have real drivers for. simple enough though. i was essentially ready to back up and format the computer.

3 monitors is kinda awesome. unfortunately. i haven't found a way to run games (war) in legit full screen mode and not have it spaz when i shift focus to another screen/program. this is annoying. i got the 2nd video card so i wouldn't have to render desktop on my main one while playing games. there is an improvement, even with just cutting it down to 1 monitor. and there is yet more improvement when i run it full screen. i would just like it to not minimize and make the game angry when i try to use firefox while playing. windowed mode + full screen works but again, there is a hit when you do that compared to real full screen.

leverage is a pretty good show. do it up.

free zune came, its not to shabby just need my car kit for it to come so i can actually use it.

ok seriously i gave it 2 tweets, now i'm going to be angry at livejournal.

3 hours of my ps3 downloading the NFS pro street update. 700mb, for 1/2 god only knows what else its got.
wipeout HD is a 900mb download. for a full game. this update is almost that big. wipeout HD i'm pretty sure didn't take forever to download. i'd call shenagins on this but i'll be sad if i have to restart this fuck of a download.

i dunno why i just assumed i could just pop the disc in and waste some time before house.
carbon didn't have an update.
most of the other games did have one, but it didn't take most of a day.

it is probably not even that i wanted to play it, it is that i am being denied the ability to find out that i hate the game.

other then some fun work dramatan thats about all i got for now. maybe it'll magicly download faster between now and 10 when i'll go check it again, and probably sigh.

heavenly sword = beat.
it was pretty good, if not frustrating.
didn't like:
the sis axis aftertouch guiding of projectiles. really its gimmicky dont make it a pivotal part of the story. (this as also many FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF moments)
holy hell the last boss took me forever to beat. lots of "fuck you, are you serious" in it. making a good chunk of it rely on an already iffy game play mechanic is also pretty lame. aside from that fight and the one other boss fight you need to do it, i think i countered very few attacks, intentionally. happens quite a bit without you trying.
it was very short. i beat the bulk of it on saturday. and i have no real motivation to play it again. even for all the extras (pictures and whatnot) and to play on "hell mode"
did like:
the hack and slash was nice. i enjoy it.
it was pretty as hell, more so when my component cable came in today, 1080i > 480 whatver the composite runs at. would almost consider playing it again completely in hd. (yes i said 1080i, the tv spazes if i try 1080p or 720p, gogo older HD)
story was pretty good.

:)

probably going to send it off to be returned tomorrow and edit my queue cause i dont think i'm ready for assassins creed yet.

GT5 is also pretty, and also rage inducing. really overtake 16 cars in 1 lap in a fucking integra R? granted i missed it by 2 seconds but fffffff. debating if i want to buy it or not seeing as i know its not a daily player for me.

working console games into my rotation again is going to be a pain, or will be when i start getting games that take more then 2 days to beat.

war is still there, getting slightly annoyed at how hard it is to find a group as a healer. its like people dont WANT to not die.

also work likes to make rage happen when get lovely emails such as "oh hai, training tomorrow need 16 computers setup, kthx <3" while dealing with people having issues cause we had some server problems over the weekend. and more training rage "oh hey we dont want to share a room with this other training, so you either need to move all the computers for 1 day or come up with 20 more" whores! will see how that plays out, because we only have 20 total. bitches.

here i sit on a chilly evening after playing a round of GT5 prologue.
i recall the tweet i made earlier, about mmmo's

why are mmo's more "fun" when it is "hard"?
i hear it a lot when i play. I've said it a few times too.
wow was more fun pre-BC. such and such is just more fun this way.
mmo's have ups and downs. grinding can be horribly boring. raiding can be horribly dull. sometimes its fun just to log on and waste an hour or 2.

i find that when i'm in a small group or any group and the pulls and mobs are just non stop it gets pretty fun. when its "oh shit is this heal going to go off in time" or "fuck the sorc i'm going to heal the tank" or "fuck the tank heal the sorc" :) i've done non stop action in warhammer for longer then some of wows boss encounters in raids. aoe pulls and then getting a bunch of adds and then the tank has grabbed another group of mobs.
it is one of the things i think warhammer does better then wow. not having to stop and eat and drink is a huge boost. sure when you run out of AP and have a -ap regen debuff it kinda sucks. but you never have to stop and sit for the 12 seconds or whatever it takes to regen health/mana.

back to my point. this non stop ness isn't strictly a warhammer thing. i remember chain pulling instances in wow because the group could keep up with it. "oh healer still has full mana? next pack" to me that is just a better feeling gameplay then constantly having to stop and wait.

waiting is also the huge downside to raids in wow. i wont even get in to it. i think they made it better after all the buffs and retooling now. but back in the day the up to an hour just to start the raid and the 10+min breaks after bosses.

the fast pace reminds me of hack and slash games. which is why diablo 3 is going to be the destroyer of souls. you can jump in, hack away at things for awhile and be done. but keep coming back because this one mob or type of mob has a .001% chance to drop something shiny. or that fucking sword has to drop damned loot tables. anyone that had a fierce addiction to d2 knows.
the fact that i can get close to that in war is nice, sure i'm not hacking away on things i'm playing wack-a-mole with health bars but its still pretty fun. i'm sure the sorcs enjoy getting 10-20 mobs in front of them and killing them all at the same time.

what gets to not be fun is when i need to do quests because i can't get a couple people for the awesome grinding. (partly because i'm too lazy to spend a bunch of time looking for a tank and aoe dps) which then turns the game into me outlasting mobs. generally 2-3+ at a time just spamming my aoe dot when its not on CD and keeping my hots on me. this was made easier with my dmg gear that reduces my healing but whatever!

annnd enough mmo

christmas was pretty awesome. aside from the stupid back pain i had till... saturday? it was a bit better by the time i got to ct. when i was exceeding the daily dosage for aleve and it not doing a damn thing something was probably wrong. the puppy was a ton of fun. and i ate way to much while i was home.
didn't get anything overly noteworthy.
got myself a ps3 for my birthday.
and back to work.

here is where i'm going to say how awesome my job is sometimes :)
let me just say vmware makes some pretty badass software. and hopefully i get my promotion in the next couple of months as i've been told i will probably get. and need to bang out some of my certs soon. going to start with MCDST. which is BS. but whatever.

annd done.

in case some people wanted to know and wanted to not just pick something random for me.

a book and possibly some of the others by the same author.
maybe some of the munchkin sets i dont have. they amuse me.
if you bugged me i could probably come up with something animeish that would be nice.

the mazda shown in the previous entry would be nice.
anything else i can probably come up with if asked, i guess.

as i spend another day with nothing to do really i decided to make a post after about a month of not posting. (i made that length of time up because i don't feel like checking it)

todays highlights include breaking down the show computers, and wasting time after that so i get at least 8 hours today. and i have some ram upgrades to install. exciting times, yes i know.

i have exhausted netflix on demand again, to the point where i watched most of bloodrayne again. i would have finished it except i had to do something and then netflix decided i didn't have enough bandwidth to stream it which is odd because i watched another show between attempts. i think that particular server was being shitty. anyway, bloodrayne is a awful movie. it does have tits in it though. uwe boll make some shitty movies. bloodrayne2 doesn't even make sense, vampires and cowboys or vampire cowboys not sure without watching it again. and rayne isn't the same girl, shes not as hot in the 2nd one. ok i imdb'd it they are both kinda hot i think i got them confused. and i also noticed there is a 3rd in the works.

thanksgiving was good. not having to work for a couple days was really nice. family was good, puppy is insane.

planing my christmas time off. going to be in ohio for a bit then maybe stopping in ct on the way back up for a couple days. my vacation time is screwing me a little bit because i don't have quite enough to take all the days off i think.

work is work. now that it is slowing down i'm going to try to get at least 1 of my certs done. hopefully in january i'll take one. got 4 easyish ones to bang out.

going to ohio tomorrow night. should be fun, i get to snag some things i haven't seen in a year. and see the puppy. and family.

work is work is work. about to start the slow season so i wont have any real ot till.. febuaryish. car show is when i come back, so i can look at all kinds of shiny things that i can't afford. or could afford and dont want to make payments on. i'll be sure to wander around to stare at them.

warhammer is warhammer. the zealot is increasingly more fun.

i think that about sums up whatever i wanted to post about in much less then me rambling on and on because i'm bored at work.

entry with various bits of warhammer in it.

today was fairly useless. daylight savings time screwed with me. different clocks not updating messed with me. woke up and then took a nap essentially.

been continuing the warhammer. rolled a healer a week or 2 ago. i out leveled the first zone by just doing the battlegrounds. and idle questing.
healing is pretty interesting. because i know that at least i wont die until something with alot of burst dps comes along. or just hits much harder then my heals. i did pick the most healer like class that has probably the least dps potential. so i've got my pure dps class and my pure healing class.

tomorrow is going to suck. i have to go in around 6 to setup for some training that i couldn't set up because the show was using the room. and i have to baby sit it for awhile because they aren't sure people can handle a computer. depending on who shows up i may be working 12 hours. and will be quite unhappy towards the end of it.

lack of posts since i killed my loudtwitter.

just finished a 50 hour week after my 76 hour week. hoping to get back to a schedule other then 12 on 2 off sometime soon.

been dicking around with my deb vm today. got a shimmie running. partly because danbooru is a fucking bear to install. ruby and non apache web server and all kinds of shit that can go wrong. fun things like installing ruby and rails and having it decide that it isn't the right versions to update itself anymore. shimmie is very similiar and is php/mysql.

i had some grand idea about putting my years and years of image collection on it so i could have a easily sortable thing. but fuck thats a lot of work. and i don't really save pictures from the internets much now a days.

and on that note, i think its time for more warhammer
